AI search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews pull answers from pages they trust. Our GSC-Enhanced AEO Audit connects your Search Console data to our AI visibility checker, so you can see which of your ranking pages are — and aren't — being cited by AI. Content:
Why AI search visibility is different from traditional SEO
Traditional SEO is about ranking on page one. AI search is about being cited as the source. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Bing Copilot pull answers from pages they consider authoritative and well-structured. Ranking in position three does not guarantee citation. Being cited from position twelve is entirely possible if your content is formatted correctly and your E-E-A-T signals are strong.
This creates a gap. Many sites rank well in traditional search but are invisible in AI responses. The reverse is also true — sites with modest traditional rankings are cited constantly because their content answers questions clearly, is marked up properly, and signals genuine expertise.
What the GSC AEO Audit does
The standard AEO Checker analyses any URL for AI visibility signals: answer-ready content structure, FAQ and HowTo schema, E-E-A-T indicators, entity clarity, and citation worthiness.
The GSC-Enhanced AEO Audit takes this further. By connecting your Google Search Console data it can cross-reference your top-performing queries against their source pages, identify which pages rank well in traditional search but score low for AI visibility, and flag pages with high impressions but declining click-through rate — a strong signal that AI is summarising your content rather than sending users to your page.
AI bot activity analysis
The log analyser component reads your server access logs and identifies crawl activity from known AI bots: GPTBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot and others. You can see which pages each bot is crawling, how frequently, and which pages have never been touched. Pages crawled repeatedly are being actively monitored for updates. Pages never crawled may need content or structure improvements to become citation candidates.
Who should use it
The GSC-Enhanced AEO Audit is available on the Gold plan. It is most useful for content-heavy sites seeing stable rankings but declining click-through rates — a pattern consistent with AI answer extraction — and for businesses in sectors where AI search is already dominant: finance, health, legal, technology, and local services.
If you are on Silver or below, the standard AEO Checker gives you the full on-page analysis for any URL without requiring Search Console access.
Getting started
Connect your Google Search Console account from the platform dashboard, then open Content Tools and select GSC AEO Audit. The connection uses OAuth — your data stays between you and Google, and you can disconnect at any time.
